What is SNAP-8, and what is it used for?
SNAP-8 is also listed and searched as SNAP 8 peptide, acetyl octapeptide-3. They all mean the same compound. Supplier lists write it as SNAP-8 peptides as well; every one of those is this record. A name is not a test, which is why the lot record further down counts for more than the wording on a label.
Chemically: molecular formula C41H70N16O16S, average mass 1075.2 g/mol (PubChem CID 76283482). Those figures are what the identity test on a certificate is read against.
Acetyl octapeptide-3 (acetyl glutamyl heptapeptide-3) — an eight-residue peptide extending the sequence of the six-residue Argireline.
Proposed to mimic the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 and compete with it for a position in the SNARE complex, destabilising complex formation and thereby reducing vesicle fusion and neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular junction. This is a topical cosmetic mechanism, not a systemic one.
Topical cosmetic use on expression lines. The published literature specific to this peptide is very thin and largely industry-generated rather than independent.
Essentially the whole of it. No independent peer-reviewed trial establishes the mechanism or the effect for this specific peptide, and the SNARE-competition hypothesis has not been demonstrated to occur in intact human skin.
SNAP-8 for sale: 2mg vials, price per mg
SNAP-8 is sold in 1 size here, 2mg, from $65.00 a vial. SNAP-8 cost and SNAP-8 price per mg by size are in the table, at each volume tier and on subscription; the per-mg figure under each price is the one that compares across sizes.
Volume and subscription pricing by size
| Size | One vial | 10–19 vials−10% | 20 vials−15% | Subscribe monthly−6% from shipment 2 | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SNAP-8 2mg | $65.00$32.50/mg | $58.50a vial · $29.25/mg | $55.25a vial · $27.63/mg | $61.10a vial, shipment 2 on · $30.55/mg | Backordered — waitlist |
Volume tiers are per size and do not combine across sizes (see bulk pricing). Subscribe & Save takes 6% every month, 4% every 2 months or 2% every 3 months off from shipment 2, two shipments minimum, and stacks on the volume tier: the lowest this record ever bills is $25.97 per mg, twenty 2mg vials on a monthly subscription from shipment 2 onward.
Nothing is added at checkout except the USPS shipping you choose; dispatch and delivery are the same on every order. The cost-per-milligram tool ranks the whole catalog by price per mg.
Where to buy SNAP-8: what to check before you order from anyone
SNAP-8 for sale, or SNAP-8 peptide for sale, means this page: one record, 1 size. You can buy SNAP-8 online here with guest checkout; verified in-stock orders placed before 12 PM Pacific are dispatched the same day. A SNAP-8 supplier, vendor or source worth using will show you the lot number and where its certificate can be verified.
Before ordering SNAP-8 from anyone, us included, run the 5 checks on verifying a certificate; the first is that the report resolves on the laboratory's own site, and a seller who cannot pass them is asking for the trust a certificate exists to replace.
SNAP-8 cream or serum? What this vial is, and is not
Search results for SNAP-8 also show cream or serum products, under listing titles such as snap 8 serum, snap 8 peptide serum, snap-8 topical, snap 8 peptide powder, snap 8 powder, snap 8 topical peptide. Those are finished consumer goods made and marketed by other companies, and none of them is what this page sells. This record is freeze-dried SNAP-8 in a sealed glass vial, 2mg, with a lot certificate, supplied for laboratory work. Its certificate describes that powder, not a capsule, spray or cream, which carry other ingredients and sit under different rules.
The SNAP-8 certificate: lot, purity, identity, and how to verify it
A certificate answers identity, purity and net content as three separate questions, each with the method that produced it and the date it was run, how to read one covers what each field does and does not cover. For SNAP-8 that means a mass spectrum landing on 1,075.2 g/mol for C41H70N16O16S, the figure published against PubChem CID 76283482.
SNAP-8 certificates post here and in the certificate index when Kovera Labs reports on the lot.

SNAP-8 research: what the published studies examine
Status: No FDA-approved application. This compound is sold as laboratory material. Where research on it has been published, it sits at the animal, cell or early-human stage, and this record does not summarize what it found. A supplier is not a neutral judge of evidence about its own catalog.
SNAP-8 is an eight-residue peptide, acetyl octapeptide-3, developed as an extension of the six-residue Argireline sequence. The proposed mechanism borrows its logic from botulinum toxin without the toxin: neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular junction requires assembly of the SNARE complex, in which SNAP-25 is a component, and the peptide is designed to mimic SNAP-25's N-terminal end and compete for its place in that complex, destabilising it. If that happened, vesicle fusion and therefore acetylcholine release would be reduced.
The honest observation about this compound is that the mechanism is a coherent story and the evidence that it occurs in intact human skin is close to absent. A peptide applied to the skin surface must cross the stratum corneum, reach the neuromuscular junction beneath the dermis, and there outcompete an endogenous protein for a place in a complex, and none of those steps is demonstrated in independent published work.
| Reported observation | Model | Source |
|---|---|---|
| For contrast within the same product category, the related topical peptide pal-KTTKS was tested in a 12-week double-blind, placebo-controlled, split-face randomised trial in 93 participants at 3 ppm and showed significant improvement against control by quantitative image analysis and expert grading. That is the standard of evidence a cosmetic peptide CAN reach, and no comparable independent trial exists for SNAP-8. | 12-week double-blind placebo-controlled split-face randomised trial, 93 participants (of a different peptide) | Robinson and colleagues, Topical palmitoyl pentapeptide provides improvement in photoaged human facial skin, International Journal of Cosmetic Science (2005)Cited as a benchmark for what a properly designed cosmetic peptide trial looks like — it is NOT a study of SNAP-8. |
Open questions. This page has the thinnest evidence base on the catalog and the honest thing is to say so rather than to dress the mechanism up as a finding. The SNARE-competition hypothesis is internally coherent and it is a hypothesis; the indexed independent literature does not establish that the peptide reaches the neuromuscular junction through intact skin, nor that it competes with SNAP-25 there, nor that any clinical effect follows. Most published material on this ingredient originates from suppliers of it.
The comparison above with pal-KTTKS is included deliberately: a cosmetic peptide CAN be tested properly in a split-face randomised trial, which means the absence of such a trial for SNAP-8 is a gap rather than an inevitability of the category. Anyone buying this should understand they are buying a mechanism, not a result.
Each row above describes an observation in the stated model. None of it describes what SNAP-8 would do in a person or an animal outside that model, and none of it is a recommendation to use it for anything.
How to store SNAP-8: refrigeration and shelf life
Keep the sealed vial cold and out of the light and it stays as it left the lab. Once it is mixed into a solution, how long it holds up depends on the compound, what it was mixed with, how strong the solution is and how cold it is kept — too many variables for anyone to print one shelf life on a label. So laboratories write the date on whatever they prepare and keep their own record of it.
For solution preparation arithmetic on the bench, concentration, per-graduation values and molarity, use the vial concentration calculator, which opens with the SNAP-8 sizes stocked here already loaded. It covers laboratory measurement only and contains no administration guidance.
